Brandon's 3rd Birthday

Brandon turned 3 yesterday. He had camp from 9-1. It was a rough morning getting him out of the house. I think everything from the last week caught up with him. He did go to camp and he had a fun time. He decorated a birthday crown at camp and he had munchkins there.

Last night both sets of grandparents came over to celebrate Brandon's birthday. Brandon loved his Backyardigans birthday cake and loved having everyone sing happy birthday to him...a big difference from last year when he was hysterical hearing everyone sing to him.

4th of July

We had a very low key 4th of July this year. We stayed at home and watched fireworks on tv. Stu took Brandon to the town fireworks on Saturday night and Brandon really liked them.

Happy 3rd Birthday Brandon

Dear Brandon,

You are 3 years old today. It is so hard to believe that it was 3 years ago that you came into this world weighing only 1 pound, 14 ounces. You have come such a long way and continue to amaze us every day.

This past year you really started to talk. You say so many things and have started talking in sentences. I love how you say your name is "amon" since you have trouble with the Br sound.

You are a very loving, outgoing, and affectionate little boy. You are always coming up to me and daddy and kissing different parts of our bodies or stroking us and saying "nice mommy" or "nice daddy."

You love Hershey. When he is being bad you tell him "no Hershey" and when he is being good you like to pet him and tell him "good dog."

You love playing with your DVD's. I am not sure why but you always want to have at least one to carry around. And you know which one is which. You also love playing Wii. You like playing Wii party and Wii Elmo and know how to put the Wii games in and out and start them.

You like Thomas the Train, Bob the Builder, and playing outside. You love all animals, especially dogs. You started sleeping in your big boy bed at the end of May and love it.

You became a big brother 6 days ago and you are so good with your baby brother. I can't wait to see the two of you together in a few years when Wes is a little bigger.

I can't wait to see what this next year brings for you. Daddy and I love you very much.

Love,
Mommy

Such a Good Big Brother

Brandon has been amazing since we came home from the hospital. I think he really likes being a big brother. He keeps coming up to Wes and kissing him and stroking him and saying nice baby. Earlier today I went upstairs for a few minutes to get something. As soon as I got upstairs Wesley started to cry. I went back downstairs and saw Brandon crouching in front of Wes stroking his leg to calm him down. A little while ago I put Wesley in his baby swing without it turned on. Brandon walked over to the swing a few minutes later and gently was pushing the swing back and forth for Wes. I can't wait to see the two of them grow up together and the relationship that they have as brothers.

Coming Home

Wes and I came home yesterday morning. Brandon was waiting outside when we pulled into the driveway and came right up to the car to see mommy, daddy, and Wesley. He was very excited to see his baby brother. He came right up to him when we put the carseat down on the grass and stroked his head, then he walked around and kissed Wesley on the head and told me, "kissed Wesley on head." The night before when he came to visit at the hospital when he left I asked if he wanted to kiss Wesley and he said he did so I told him to kiss him on the head.

Welcome Wesley

He is here

Wesley Matthew Newman was born on Wednesday, June 29 at 8:45 am. He weighed 9 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long. He has a full head of dark hair. Mom and baby are doing good and will be discharged tomorrow. We have been working on nursing. Big brother Brandon seems to like Wesley but is a little intimidated when he cries. I will post pictures of the new little guy tomorrow when I get home.
