Yesterday we went on a pirate ship with families from Wesley's class at school. Brandon and Wesley and all of the other kids had so much fun. When we got to where the pirate ship was the kids got to have tattoos painted on their arms and got to have their faces painted. Brandon had a butterfly painted on his arm and a mustache painted on his face. Wesley chose to not have anything painted. Then the kids got to pick out vests to put on to dress like pirates. We bought them bandanas to wear. Then the kids and families were ready to go on the pirate ship. The pirate ship sailed for a little over an hour. While on board the kids helped to find a buried treasure chest that was in the water. Brandon was very into it as I suspected he would be and Wesley surprised me by being into it too. I knew he would like it if he let himself but thought he would be attached to me like he is in most situations. He sat with the kids and a lot of the times went to the part of the ship where they were.

Park Fun
Brandon had his yearly eye exam on Tuesday. He has to go every year because he had ROP when he was in the NICU. They thought he would need laser eye surgery when he was in the NICU but then it started to correct itself. He was watched a lot his first year and has had yearly appointments since he was probably 1. He had a really good appointment on Tuesday. Dr. Turtel said his vision is 20/20. He goes back in a year and if everything still looks good he will start going every 2 years!
After his appointment I brought Brandon and Wesley to a park that was across the street. They had fun playing at the park.

Some Pictures from the Past Week
Brandon got his haircut at The Wave and then Brandon and Wesley posed for a picture on the surfboard.
Wesley and I went to Middlebrook Movie Theater to see the movie Alvin and the Chipmunks. Middlebrook has free movies every Tuesday and Wednesday during the summer.
Hanging around the house
We went bowling on Sunday. Brandon brought home a flyer on the last day of school that said Kids Bowl Free. I was able to sign both Brandon and Wesley up and they get to bowl two free games everyday this summer if we want.
Yesterday we went to the Ocean Township Pool. My friend Heather came with her kids, Jen and Olivia. All of the kids had so much fun playing in the pool.

Monmouth County Fair
Last Friday night we went to the Monmouth County Fair. Brandon had fun going on the rides. He was tall enough for a lot of the rides finally. Wesley and Brandon both enjoyed climbing on the touch a trucks and looking at the animals. We ran into someone who Stu knows who has a farm with goats. Some of his goats were at the fair so he let us come back and see them which was a big hit with both kids. Brandon also got to do pottery at the fair and make a bowl.
Swim Lessons
Wesley finished his swim lessons last Friday. He took mommy and me swim lessons for 6 sessions with me at Dorbrook Pool through the Monmouth County Park System. As soon as those lessons were done he started group lessons for kids who are 3-4. It was at the same pool which definitely helped with his comfort. He did a great job except for the second lesson where he cried the entire time because he wanted me to be in the pool with him. Here are some pictures from his lessons. He blew bubbles, used a kick board to kick with help from his teacher, practiced using scooping hands with his teachers, jumped off of the side of the pool, floated on his back with his teacher, and picked up a ring from the bottom of the pool. The only thing he wouldn't do is go under.
