Last Day of PreK

Today is Wesley's last day of pre K. I have such mixed emotions about today. I am excited for him that he will be graduating tomorrow night and going to elementary school in September. I am also sad to see his time at Ivy Hedge coming to an end. He has had such wonderful, caring, nurturing teachers during his 4 years there. He has made so many wonderful friendships with the kids. I hope next year in kindergarten is as wonderful as it has been at preschool.

Brandon's 8th Birthday Party

Brandon had his birthday party on Saturday. His birthday is not until July but I wanted to have it before school ends for the year since he loses a lot of classmates due to the summer. About half of the kids from his class were able to come along with some friends from Project Extend (before and after care) and a few family friends. He really wanted a sports party this year. I saw that the Monmouth County Park System had a sports party so we decided to try that. He loved it! The kids played basketball, soccer, and kickball. After playing the sports there was a party room for pizza and cake. It was a great birthday. Brandon had a smile on his face the entire time.

Art Show

Brandon had an art show at his school last night. The art was on the lockers in one of the hallways. His art teacher is so talented and does beautiful work with the kids. Brandon had two pieces of art hanging in the art show. He was so proud to show us what he made.

Conquered Jumping Off the Diving Board

Last week we were swimming at a friend's house. Wesley decided he wanted to jump off of the diving board. He finally got up enough courage to do it. And then continued to jump off about 20 more times. What a difference from last summer.

Our Weekend

We had a fun, busy weekend. On Friday we went out to dinner. After dinner we went to Barnes and Noble. Brandon and Wesley posed in the cover of the new Piggie and Elephant book.

Wesley had a t-ball game on Saturday morning.

Then we went to the Ocean Grove flea market. After the flea market we went to check out the brewery, Dark City, in Asbury Park.

We also went to Stu's parents house for dinner.

Yesterday morning Wesley had his friend, Lucy's, birthday party at I Play America. The kids went on rides and played games.

The weekend ended with a beautiful rainbow. It was really amazing. I couldn't get a picture of the whole rainbow but you could see the full ark of it.

Kindergarten Screening

Wesley had kindergarten screening this morning. I brought him to Brandon's school for it. He had to talk to one of the kindergarten teachers first. She asked him his name, how old he was, where he goes to school, what he does at school, and some other questions. He then talked to the school nurse who asked some questions. Finally he went with another teacher and she checked to see what letters, numbers, shapes, and colors he knows. She said he did a great job! His friend, Danny, came with us since Danny's mom is a teacher at the school. His mom met us at screening. Danny was done before Wesley so his mom brought him back to her classroom to say hi to the kids. When she came back she brought Brandon with her to see Wesley. She had gone to Brandon's room to see if he could come say hi to Wesley. Wesley was really excited to see Brandon.
