Brandon has been having a hard time sleeping through the night for the past 3 weeks or so. It all started with his ear infection and then continued even after he had been on the antibiotic for awhile and after he finished his antibiotic. Sunday night and Monday night this past week were the worst it had been. He was up every 30-60 minutes throughout the night crying hysterically. I decided to bring him back to the pediatrician on Tuesday to make sure he didn't have another ear infection. The pediatrician said his ears were clear. She did say that Brandon is getting his i teeth (incisors) so she think that the teething is waking him along with him being used to waking up at this point and having me come into the room. She suggested letting him cry for 5 minutes, then going in and soothing him, then letting him cry 5 more minutes, then soothing, and so on until he fell back asleep. It only seemed to make him angrier and he wasn't falling asleep so after several rounds I rocked him to sleep and put him down. He woke up an hour later and went through the same thing. After 1 1/2 hours of this I finally rocked him to sleep and put him down. He woke up 10 minutes later. I decided to just let him cry. Finally after the longest 20 minutes he found his pacifier and went to sleep on his own. Last night he woke up after 2 hours of sleeping and stood up and started to cry a sad cry but I didn't go into his room. I let him cry. He cried on and off for 40 minutes and then found a pacifier and slept another 8 hours. Hopefully after a few nights of this he should be back to his normal sleeping through the night again. It has been so hard to not go to him and just let him cry but I know he can settle himself and he needs to relearn how to.
Brandon has been doing some really cute things this week. He has figured out how to climb on and off his toy ride on firetruck. He loves to sit on it and watch the Wonder Pets. Another thing he did is mimic Stu coughing. Stu coughed last night when we were eating dinner and the next thing we heard was Brandon fake coughing. Stu then fake coughed and Brandon copied him. It was the funniest thing. Brandon also dances now when he hears music. He bends his legs up and down.
Robinson is cutting 4 incisors all at once and we've been going through the same thing for the past 2 weeks- it is miserable. 1 tooth finally broke through this morning, so I'm hoping we are in for some better sleep soon!
My name is Karen and I have been married to my husband Stu for a little over 9 years. I was pregnant with twins and lost our baby girl at 20 1/2 weeks after I had premature rupture of membranes. I stayed pregnant with the other baby and our first child, Brandon Tyler, was born on July 5, 2008 at 26 weeks and 1 day. Our second child, Wesley Matthew, was born full term on June 29, 2011. This blog is documenting our children.
