Visit From a Soldier

This picture was on Wesley's school's facebook page a few days ago. One of his teacher's sons is in the Air force and is home visiting. He stopped by Wesley's school to see the kids. I just love this picture.

Big Steps for Little Feet Walk

Last Sunday was the Big Steps for Little Feet Walk. We have been doing this walk since Brandon was still in the NICU. It raises money for the NICU where Brandon spent the first 12 weeks of his life. It is so nice to go back and see how all of the miracle babies that were born early are doing and to also see the nurses and doctors that Brandon had. Brandon and Wesley enjoyed the walk, especially all of the pre walk activities. There was face painting, balloon animals, and sand art. Wesley saw two of his friends from school who spent time in the NICU which he was really excited about.

Wesley's Soccer Game

Wesley had his first soccer game of the season on Saturday. I am coaching his team this season along with Chris and Anthony (father's of two of Wesley's friends from school). Wesley's whole team is his friends from Ivy Hedge except for Tyler who he has grown up with. Wesley's team had a great first game. The difference in Wesley from June is huge. He was right in the game this time.

Ocean Township Football Game

Last night we went to the first home football game of the season at Ocean Township High School. Both kids enjoyed the game. I did bring Wesley home at half time because he said he was tired. Brandon stayed the whole game. Sometime during the second quarter some friends of his from school got to the game. He asked if he could go sit with them and really enjoyed being by himself with his friends.

242 Family Fun Day

Today we went to 242 Family Fun Day. Our friend, John, passed away in May from cancer at the age of 41. 242 family fun day was to help raise money for his wife and step kids. There were bands playing the whole time. There were bounce houses for the kids, face painting, tattoos, Elsa and Spiderman. Both kids had fun.

Wesley's First Day of Pre-K

I am a bit behind in posting. Wesley's first day of pre-k was on Tuesday. He woke up SO excited for school to start. He was fine initially at drop off but then I ran back into his classroom because I forgot to sign him in and he started crying and saying he wanted to go home. It seemed to be short lived because he said he had a great day at school.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a really fun, Labor Day weekend. On Saturday morning I brought Brandon and Wesley to the Home Depot Kids workshop. They made a mini football game.
In the afternoon, we went to a Monmouth University football game. Brandon seemed to really enjoy it. Wesley liked it until he fell asleep partway into the game. Once he woke up he was not happy and wanted to leave so I brought him home and then we went back to get Stu and Brandon when the game was done.
Yesterday Stu, Brandon, Wesley, and I went to the pool for an hour. We then had five families over for a bbq. I set up wading pools and our bounce house and the kids had so much fun playing together.

Today we went with Stu's friend, Adam, and his parents to a Blue Claws game. The Blue Claws won 12-2. The boys both had a lot of fun. Stu even got a ball from the game when a foul was hit.

First Day of Second Grade and Pre-k orientation

Brandon's first day of second grade was today. I can't believe I have a second grader! His teacher this year is Mrs. Weldon. He came home from school and said she is really nice and that he had a good first day.
Wesley had his pre-k orientation today too. Stu brought him since it was my first day with my students. He made projects in each of the rooms he will be in.
