First Time Skiing

Brandon and Wesley were off of school the Friday before President's Day. Stu and I took personal days from work and brought them skiing for the first time. We went to Camp Gaw in Mahwah which is a very beginner place. Brandon and Wesley had a semi private lesson. Unfortunately they wound up with an instructor who did not have much patience so Wesley wound up in tears halfway through and when the lesson was done both kids said they were never skiing again. After a snack in the lodge I convinced them to try again and they wound up liking it. I skied with Wesley in between my legs. His friend, Issy, from school was also there with her mom so her mom also took him a few times while I took Issy. Brandon set his mind to making it down the bunny hill and by the end of the day he was doing it himself without falling.

Valentine's Day, 100th Day, and More

This week was a busy week.

Last weekend Brandon had a basketball game and a soccer game. He scored another basket in his basketball game. He played great in his soccer game. He had several shots on goal but did not actually score.
When Brandon was at futsal on Saturday, Stu, Wesley, and I went to Toys R Us for a lego batman building event. Wesley got to build a little bat car and got to bring it home.
Wesley celebrated the 100th day of school on Monday. Brandon has also been in school that many days but I guess once you are in 3rd grade you don't actually celebrate it.
Wesley was so excited that I bought him new one piece super soft pajamas.

Snow Day

On Thursday, we all had a snow day. Wesley, Brandon, and I got our call from our schools the night before saying we would have no school. It had not started snowing yet but the prediction was for a lot of snow and the timing was that it was going to start right before school. Stu found out in the morning when he was getting ready for work that he also did not have to go in to work.

Stu wound up going to the firehouse for stand by. When the snow finally stopped he came home and we went sledding. Brandon and Wesley had a lot of fun playing in the snow and sledding as usual.

What We Have Been Up To

We have been really busy the past few weeks between school, work, and sport practices and games. Here are some of the things we have been doing.

Brandon and Wesley celebrated the Chinese New Year at Project Extend.
We went to another Monmouth basketball game. We had really good seats for it. They beat Quinnipiac!
We went ice skating. Brandon has been several times over the years but it was Wesley's first time going. We rented something for him to hold onto which was a great idea but partway through he was able to let go and skate. He surprised us with how well he did with no lessons.
The 100th day of school is coming up soon. Wesley had to glue 100 of something onto poster board to show what 100 looks like. I searched on pinterest and we decided to make a gumball machine with little fuzz balls.
Brandon and Wesley had spirit day at their school. They had to wear their favorite sports shirt.
Brandon and Wesley got haircuts.
Brandon started indoor soccer. He has been having practices with the trainer since December and has been playing futsal (Brazilian soccer) scrimmages on Saturdays. His first indoor soccer game was last Sunday. He had his second one yesterday. He played SO well. He scored a goal which he was so excited about and had two assists. He also did a great job getting the ball away from some of the players.
He is also still playing rec basketball. He has scored one basket each game which he is really happy about. He told us his goal is to get a basket each game.
