Great Adventure with Friends

Last week we went to Great Adventure with our friends, Kennedy and Olivia. Kennedy and Olivia are Wesley's friends from Ivy Hedge. All four kids had so much fun going on rides, although Brandon was mad that he couldn't go on some of the bigger rides since the lines were too long. I love the friendship these kids have maintained despite all going to different schools this past year.

Solar Eclipse

A few weeks ago there was a solar eclipse. My parents were watching Brandon and Wesley that morning since I had kindergarten orientation so my mom ordered solar eclipse glasses for everyone. The weather was nice and sunny until about 1 1/2 hours before the eclipse when the clouds came out and covered the sun. We were able to see the eclipse though since every so often the clouds parted before getting covered again. We had about 75% coverage here. It was pretty cool to see.

Happy Birthday Papa Jim

UMass and Six Flags New England

We stayed a town over from UMass when we were on vacation so went to the book store one day and went to dinner at restaurants there. On our last day we went to take a picture of Stu, Brandon, and Wesley since Stu went to college at UMass.
We then went to Six Flags New England. Brandon, Wesley, and I have season passes for Great Adventure which can be used at any Six Flags. Six Flags New England is much smaller than Great Adventure. There is one entrance and from that entrance you can access the rides or Hurricane Harbor. Brandon and Wesley chose to spend the whole time there at Hurricane Harbor and had a blast. Wesley discovered that he loves water slides this year. Brandon continued to love the water slides and also found an obstacle course that he tried.

Deerfield Butterfly Conservatory

After Yankee Candle we went to the Deerfield Butterfly Conservatory.
There were a bunch of reptiles and amphibians in cages when we walked in.
We then walked into the room with the butterflies. The first thing we saw was a tortoise. Brandon and Wesley were able to pet the tortoise.
Then we walked through the butterfly area. We saw a case that had butterflies that were hatching. As we continued to walk through, hundreds of butterflies were flying around. One even landed on Wesley's shirt which scared him.

Yankee Candle Company

We woke up on the second morning of our vacation to it raining so we had to find indoor activities to do. Our first stop was Yankee Candle Company in Deerfield, MA. It is huge. There were tons of rooms and each room had a different theme/ different things to do. Brandon and Wesley really liked it there.
Brandon and Wesley both made candles/ dipped wax in different colors to make things to hang on their bedroom walls.
One of the things the kids liked best was the room where it snowed every 4 minutes.
There was also a room full of toys that had Santa's Workshop. Santa was there so we went to visit him.
