Our Weekend

We had a nice, busy weekend. Wesley had his soccer game yesterday. He did well when he was in again yesterday and was right in the middle of where the ball was the whole time. What a difference from last year! He also saw lots of friends from Ivy Hedge and friends from his class playing in different games. He was so excited to see them.
Last night Stu and I got a babysitter and went out for our friend, Anthony's, birthday. We went to the Watermark in Asbury Park. It is a really nice place.
Today Brandon had his travel soccer game. He had some good kicks and had a shot on goal. His team played really well but lost 1-0. At the end of the game, his coach gave out 3 soccer ball pins to kids who had a good game. Brandon got one for playing good offense.

The NICU walk was today but we didn't go for the first time since Brandon was in the NICU since his soccer game was at the same time. I was really sad to miss it but I asked Brandon which he wanted to go to and he said his soccer game. He really loves soccer. This was the tenth anniversary of the walk so they were having the preemies all go on stage at the end of the walk with their picture from the day they were born. I had Brandon pose with his before his game. It really is amazing how far he has come from the day he was born.
After the game, we went out for ice cream at a place not far from his game.
Wesley and I then went to Target. He was so excited to use a kids cart to push around. Our Target just got them.

242 Day

A week ago we went to 242 Day. It is a day that is in honor of our friend, John Green, who passed away a little over a year ago from cancer. This year they paired with Kick Cancer Overboard so the money that they raised that day went to them. It was a fun day. There were bands playing, bounce houses for the kids, tattoos, and balloon animals. There was a photographer taking pictures. The pictures on here are the ones I found of Brandon and Wesley that I found that she took.

Wesley's First Kindergarten Soccer Game

Wesley is playing kindergarten soccer this year. I am coaching his team along with his friend, Dominic's dad, Anthony. We had our first game yesterday morning. Of course it was one of the hottest days that it has been in awhile but the kids got out there and played and seemed to have fun. I was amazed at the difference that a year made with Wesley. He was right in the middle of the playing when he was in each time. He got several kicks on the ball. He had fun playing and didn't ask over and over when the game would be done.

First Day of School

Brandon and Wesley had their first day of school yesterday. This is the first time they are in school together since they were 1 and 4. It was so nice having only one drop off and one pick up yesterday.

Wesley is in kindergarten this year. His teacher is Mrs. Thorne. When I picked him up after school yesterday he said he had a really fun day. He was most excited that his teacher gave each kid a smartie at the end of the day to eat.

Brandon is in third grade. His teacher is Mrs. Kelly. His best friend, Colin, is in his class this year and his teacher sat them next to each other. I think that was the highlight of his day.

Blue Claws Game

Stu, Brandon, Wesley, and I went to the Blue Claws game yesterday with our friend, Adam, and his parents. His parents had extra tickets from this season left over so invited us to go with them. Brandon and Wesley enjoyed the game. At the end of the game we got to go on the field for a picture with the players. Some of the players stayed on the field after the picture to sign autographs. The kids especially loved that.

Last Week

This past week was our last week off until school starts. I actually had to go back for professional days on September 1st and 2nd but Brandon and Wesley had the whole week off.

On Sunday, Brandon went to the Red Bulls soccer game with my parents. It was part of his birthday present from them. He really enjoyed the game.
On Monday, we went out for ice cream after dinner to the Perfect Scoop.
On Tuesday, Wesley had his first soccer practice for the season. I am coaching his team along with his friend, Dominic's, dad. Wesley said he had fun at his practice.
On Wednesday, we went to Great Adventure. Both boys went on a lot of rides.

On Thursday, Wesley had kindergarten orientation. Stu brought him since I was back at work that day. He went to the classroom with his teacher and new class for a little while. He said he had a good time. His teacher this year is Mrs. Thorne.
Yesterday, I brought Wesley to Home Depot for the kids workshop. Brandon did not want to go so just Wesley went with me.
