Hershey is the most patient dog. Wesley went over to him today when we got home from school/ work and started petting him on the head. Brandon said it was the cutest thing he had ever seen. The petting turned to him whacking Hershey on the head pretty hard with his hand and Hershey just sat there patiently.
It has not been a good week or two around here as far as sickness is concerned. 1 1/2 weeks ago I brought Brandon and Wesley to the pediatrician since Wesley's rash hadn't cleared up. The doctor thought it was on a staph infection and put him on a sulfa antibiotic. We had to stop it on Sunday because it really tore up his stomach. He probably pooped around 20 times in two days. Looking back on it though I now wonder if he had a stomach bug or rotavirus and it was just coincidental that he was on the medicine. I wound up bringing him to a dermatologist on Thursday and he has a yeast infection which is what the rash has been all along. He is on a hydrocortisone prescription which is finally clearing it up. The same day that I brought Wesley to the pediatrician I also brought Brandon since he had been coughing all week. The doctor said he had bronchitis and put him on the z pac. Monday night Brandon complained about his stomach hurting a few hours before he went to sleep. He went to sleep as usual and woke up an hour later throwing up. He continued for the next 2 hours. He stayed home from school on Tuesday and by dinner seemed a lot better so he went back to school on Wednesday. On Thursday afternoon his school called to say he needed to be picked up. He now was having the issue with his other end. It continued for 2 1/2 days. I finally brought him to the doctor yesterday and the doctor thinks he had rotavirus. He told me he could have immodium which they don't like to give to kids until it has been 3 days at least and it finally seems to have worked. I also brought Wesley yesterday because he has an awful cough which started Thursday night and now he has bronchitis. He is now on the z pac. So hopefully everyone is on the mend.
The first 3 pictures are of the boys funny faces. Wesley has recently discovered Yo Gabba Gabba and on one of the episodes the kids make funny faces so Wesley copies them when they do. The last 2 pictures are what Wesley does when you ask him to smile now.
Yesterday morning when I was getting ready for work Brandon built a block castle. I wanted to take a picture of him next to it and Wesley came running over to get in the picture.
Neither boy was too cooperative about getting their picture taken yesterday in their Valentine's Day shirts so this is the best I could do. I hope everyone had a happy Valentine's Day. Both boys came home with more candy, treats, and cards than I ever remember getting from my friends. They both enjoyed their parties at school.
This morning I went upstairs to get dressed and heard Brandon and Wesley playing together. When I came back downstairs Brandon told me they were playing dress up.
Brandon and Wesley went to play in the snow again yesterday afternoon. Wesley was much happier playing the second day and even decided to walk on the snow without crying. His only complaint was I made him wear mittens on his hands.
We got about 8 inches of snow last night. When Stu got home from work today we went outside to play. Wesley wasn't a huge fan of the snow but Brandon had a blast playing in the snow. He helped me build a snowman. The snow is powdery so it was hard to roll a snowball so we packed it together.
A week ago Brandon and Wesley brought home a note from Ivy Hedge saying that they should wear their favorite football team shirt, jersey, or sweatshirt a week later for a Superbowl celebration they would be having. I told Brandon he could wear his Steelers shirt the following week to school for it and he said, "But Mommy, I don't like the Steelers anymore. My new favorite team is the Jets." I proceeded to call my parents to inform them that they needed to get him a Jets shirt to wear since he liked the Jets because of him. They got him a Jets sweatshirt that he was very excited to wear to school yesterday. They had a fun Superbowl party at school. They had potato chips for snack for the Superbowl and talked about the two teams that are playing.
My name is Karen and I have been married to my husband Stu for a little over 9 years. I was pregnant with twins and lost our baby girl at 20 1/2 weeks after I had premature rupture of membranes. I stayed pregnant with the other baby and our first child, Brandon Tyler, was born on July 5, 2008 at 26 weeks and 1 day. Our second child, Wesley Matthew, was born full term on June 29, 2011. This blog is documenting our children.
