Surgery Day

Today Wesley had surgery to have his ear tube removed and Brandon had surgery to get his tonsils taken out. Both boys did really well with their surgery. We were told to be there at 8:30 this morning. Wesley didn't even wind up being brought back until 11:15 and Brandon was not brought back until 11:30. They were real troopers and hardly complained about being hungry or thirsty even though they hadn't had anything to eat or drink since 8:15 the night before. There was a kids room in the waiting area with toys and Nintendo which was great. It really helped distract the boys.

When they brought Wesley back to us after the surgery he was very mellow but not crying. He ate a popsicle and drank some apple juice and then after a little while he was up and coloring in his coloring book that the hospital gave to him.

Brandon came back much more groggy than Wesley. He was complaining that his throat really hurt when he first came back. After some sips of water and a popsicle he said it hurt less than it had. They wound up giving him oxycodone before he left the hospital which really helped him feel much better. By the time we got home he was running and jumping around. He actually ate some mini muffins for a snack and ate a pancake for dinner.
