Random Pictures of Wesley from the Week

Monmouth County Fair

Last night Stu, Brandon, Wes, Stu's parents, and I went to the Monmouth County Fair. Brandon really had a lot of fun there. He went to the petting zoo and had fun feeding the animals. He went on rides and he saw the big trucks at touch a truck which was there. He also watched a little bit of a horse and dog show.

Tummy Time

Yesterday I put Wesley on a blanket on the floor to try tummy time. He has pretty good head control for only being a month old and was able to lift his head up a little. He was not a fan of tummy time, however, and only lasted about two minutes before he was hysterical.

One Month Old

Wesley is one month old today. The past month has gone by so quickly. Sometimes it feels like Wes has been a part of our family forever and sometimes it seems like he just came home from the hospital with me.

At 3 weeks old Wesley weighed 10 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 3/4 inches long. He doesn't go back to the pediatrician for another 3 weeks so I don't have a more current weight.

Wes is drinking similac sensitive. We hsd to switch him to that since he is so gassy. I finally stopped pumping because I couldn't keep up with him. I never had more than 2 ounces each time I pumped but at the end I wasn't even getting an ouncewhen I pumped. He drinks 4 ounces every 3 hours in the day (6 bottles) and wakes up once during the night for a 4 ounce bottle. Last night he slept from his last bottle at 9:15 until 4:15 this morning!

Wes is wearing 0-3 month clothes (skipped newborn and started off in 0-3 month) but probably not for too much longer.

Point Pleasant with Aunt Peggy and Julia

My Aunt Peggy and my cousin Jill's daughter Julia came to visit on Wednesday for a few days. They came to our house with my parents to hang out and eat dinner on Wednesday afternoon. Yesterday when Stu got home from work we went to the boardwalk to meet them and my parents for dinner and go on rides and play games. Brandon really loved hanging out with Julia. She was so good with him.

Holding Wesley

Up until yesterday Brandon hasn't wanted to hold Wesley. He likes stroking him, giving him his pacifier, and helping with him...he just wanted nothing to do with holding him. Yesterday afternoon I asked Brandon if he wanted to hold Wesley and he said yes. The quality of the picture isn't great because Stu took the picture from across the room. Brandon isn't a huge fan of having his picture taken lately and we didn't want to upset him by taking his picture so Stu took it when Brandon wasn't paying attention. I hope to get a better one of Brandon holding Wes sometime soon.

Elmo Slippers

Yesterday when I was at Babies R Us I saw Elmo slippers and bought a pair for Brandon. He was so excited to get them from me. He put them on around 4:30 and left them on until bedtime. He loves them.

Brandon has said several cute things in the past few days. A few days ago I was changing Wesley on the changing table part of the pack n play. Brandon was standing on a chair watching. The pack n play we have is a Graco and Brandon pointed to each letter and said what it was. He then said it spelled Baby Wesley which makes sense since it is Wes' pack n play. Yesterday he pointed to and spelled the letters on my car (chevrolet) and said it spells "mommy's car." Brandon also can spell his name if you ask him how it is spelled and count to 20. He recognizes all uppercase letters and most lowercase letters.

3 Week Doctor Visit

Wes had his 3 week pediatrician appointment yesterday. He weighed 10 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 3/4 inches long. He is in the 75th percentile for both his weight and height. I talked to the doctor about how gassy he is and he suggested using mylicon drops and keeping him on similac sensitive formula. Hopefully between the two we will start to see a difference in his gas. He just gets so uncomfortable.

Wes is staying awake longer stretches throughout the day and still only getting up the two times during the night for a bottle. He takes between 3 and 4 ounces every 2 1/2-3 hours during the day and at night usually gives me a 4 hour stretch before his first bottle.

Uncle Brian and Aunt Laura Visit

This past weekend we got to see Brian and Laura. They were in New Jersey because of a wedding. The timing worked out well because they got to meet Wesley. And Brandon was so happy to see them. On the drive to my parents beach house on Saturday it is all Brandon talked about...the fact that he was going to see them.

First Bath

Wes had his first bath last night since his cord fell off a few days ago. He did not enjoy it at all. He screamed the entire time. Hopefully he will start to like his baths.

Beach

Yesterday we went with our friends, the VanDeBoe's, to their beach club. Stu brought Brandon to the ocean and I stayed under the umbrella with Wes. Stu said Brandon LOVED the ocean. The whole time he was in it he kept sceaming, "ocean." After playing in the ocean Brandon went in the pool.

Wesley

Here are some pictures of Wesley from this week. Wes has been sleeping well at night. He usually has his last bottle before bed around 9. He gets up for 2 bottles during the night and then goes back to sleep. Usually he is up around 7- 7:30 to start his day. He goes from quiet to screaming when it is time for his next bottle. He is a hungry boy. I am pumping and he is also getting formula since I can't keep up with how much he eats. I tried nursing him the first few days but he was getting so angry when it was time to eat because he was so hungry and didn't want to work on getting his food. Brandon continues to like his baby brother.

Atlantic Farms

On Wednesday, Stu, Brandon, Wesley, and I went to Atlantic Farms. Brandon had so much fun feeding carrots and corn to the animals there. He especially liked the goats, sheep, and donkeys.
