Brandon's First Day of Kindergarten

Brandon's first day of kindergarten was yesterday. He was so excited for school to start. I brought him to before care yesterday morning and he went in happily. He was then in his kindergarten class for the day and then went to aftercare after school. He had fun all day. He told me he liked school and liked his teacher. I couldn't really get out of him what he did all day though. I teach kindergarten so I tried to ask him if he did certain things (write, rest time, if his teacher read a book, etc). He told me yes to everything and that was about the extent of what I got out of him. His teacher this year is Miss Pembleton. He is in full day kindergarten. This is the first year that our school district has full day. His best friend Shane from school last year is in his class along with some other friends from his pre-K classes both at the public school last year and from Ivy Hedge. We have his back to school night next week. I can't wait to see his classroom and meet his teacher.

Wesley's First Day of School, Project Extend, and Kindergarten Orientation

Wesley's first day of school in the beginner classroom was today. He had to be pried off of me and was crying hysterically when I left. When I picked him up at the end of the day they told me he cried all day and then took a nap at 11:15 because he was so tired from crying. He napped until a little before I picked him up at 3:45. When I asked him why he was crying he said, "Mommy". Hopefully it won't take him too long to get over me not being with him all day.

Brandon went to project extend today. He will be going to before and after care once he starts kindergarten next week. Project extend runs before and after care. On days that the school is closed for holidays you can pay $30 and send your child for the day. It isn't at the schools but is at a gym in our town. Brandon had a really good time. He said they played games, watched Tom and Jerry, and played on the playground.

Yesterday was his kindergarten orientation. He was so excited to go. He woke up in the morning and told me he couldn't wait to meet his new teacher and new friends. He actually has one of his best friends from pre-k in his class and several other good friends from pre-k. I think he is going to have a great year. His first day of school is on Monday.

Beginner Orientation

Wesley had his orientation yesterday at Ivy Hedge. This year he is in the beginning room. Two of his teachers from last year moved up so they will be his teachers again. Wesley is the one of the only kids who was hysterically crying yesterday when the parents left for 20 minutes. Hopefully he gets over this quickly once school starts.
Wesley is smiling in this picture. This is what he does when you ask him to say cheese.

Playground Fun

Justin's Birthday Party

Last Friday afternoon we went to my friend Nancy's son, Justin's, birthday party. It was a pool party but Brandon had his adenoids taken out 4 days before the party and still wasn't allowed to go under water so we skipped the swimming part and went to the party after that. The rest of the party was at Nancy's parents' house. Brandon and Wesley both had a lot of fun running around the backyard there and playing. They also enjoyed the cupcakes.

Pennsylvania Getaway

Stu, Brandon, Wesley, and I went away this past Thursday to Saturday. First, we went to Chocolate World which is part of Hershey Park. We went on a ride that brings you through the chocolate making process. Both boys liked it and wanted to go on it again which we eventually did. There were also a few characters (Hershey bar, Hershey kiss) to get our pictures taken with. Then we did the chocolate making experience. We had to put on aprons and hair nets and got to pick what ingredients we wanted in our candy bars. We then got to see the actual candy bars being made. We got to decorate the wrapper and take the chocolate bars home.
We stayed in a hotel in Harrisburg after going to Chocolate World. The next morning we woke up and drove to Latrobe where the Pittsburgh Steelers were practicing. The practice was from 3-5 and then at the end there is an area where you can stand to watch the players walk off of the field and some will stop and get autographs. We bought a small helmet at the store there for autographs and did get 4 players to sign it. We gave Brandon the helmet to hold and he got so into getting autographs. He was so polite about it and would nicely say to the players, "Can I please have your autograph?"
