July 12, 2008 afternoon

Dr. Alimony called around 11:30 this morning to tell me that Brandon had been put on a ventilator. He was having too many desats so they wanted to give him a chance to rest. We knew there was a good chance of him going back on the ventilator but it was still upsetting to hear. We went to the hospital a little after the call to see Brandon. Mark, his nurse, reassured us that he is doing well and that we knew there was a chance of him going back on. He said it is great that he made it a week without going back on. He said this will give him a chance to grow and hopefully start eating. As long as he remains stable he will probably start eating tomorrow. Mark also told us that Brandon is on the lowest level of oxygen. So I felt better hearing that. Hopefully this little guy of ours will continue to be a fighter.

Hi guys,
This is Missy, Gyasi's wife. I am so proud of you for being so strong through this and sharing Brandon's progress on this blog. He sure is a little fighter and you should be very proud of him. NICU doctors and nurses are the absolute best so he is in wonderful, loving hands. And soon he'll be home in your loving arms...till that day, stay strong and know that lots of people are thinking of you and your little fighter.

Hi Karen,
I just wanted to leave a little note of encouragement. Brandon seems to be strong like his parents. You are both doing such a fabulous job and that little guy is lucky to have such strong and loving parents. Hopefully he won't be on the ventilator too long and it'll give him some time to rest and get ready for some milk! We continue to keep all of you in our thoughts.
Love,
Kyra

Karen & Stu,
I wanted to share my thoughts with you. You two are very strong as you go through this difficult time and yet you find the strength to write about it. Its no wonder why your little Brandon is a strong boy. He takes after his parents. He is very fortunate to have parents like yourselves. Keep beliving in your litle miracle. Stay strong and know that my thoughts and prayers are with Brandon and his loving family.
Love
Mia
